 Georgia Stitt

Composer

Georgia Stitt, composer/lyricist, wrote Big Red Sun with John Jiler and The Water with Jeff Hylton and Tim Werenko. She is currently developing a musical revue with David Kirshenbaum and has written a number of songs with Sam Davis. With Marcy Heisler she wrote Alphabet City Cycle, five songs for soprano, violin and piano. Georgia’s non-theatrical commissions include several choral pieces, Let Me Sing For You, performed at The Kennedy Center, Echo, performed by the Women’s Chorus at the University of California, Berkeley, De Profundis and A Better Resurrection, premiered at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, as well as a setting of a poem by Howard Schwartz, These Two, for string quartet and tenor. Also a music director, Georgia has worked extensively on Broadway (Little Shop of Horrors, Avenue Q, Sweet Smell of Success, The Music Man, Titanic, Annie, Parade and the upcoming Leap of Faith), Off-Broadway (The Thing About Men, Stars In Your Eyes, After The Fair, The Prince and the Pauper and tick, tick… BOOM!) and in film (“The Stepford Wives” and “Once Upon a Mattress”). Sam Davis

Composer

Sam Davis is a composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist. Broadway credits include pianist and/or conductor for over 15 shows, including the revivals of Cabaret, Follies, and Into the Woods. Other New York credits include dance music arranger for Sinatra at Radio City, as well as Dr. Sex, A Woman of Will, Belle Epoque, and Dream True. Regionally, Sam has worked as arranger and/or musical director at San Diego's Old Globe and La Jolla Playhouse, Connecticut's Goodspeed Opera House, and Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater. His orchestrations have been performed by the San Francisco Symphony, the Philadelphia Pops, the Rochester Symphony, and the Columbus Symphony, among others, and he can be heard on the recordings Warm Spring Night and Dream True (both P.S. Classics). As composer, Sam is a founding member of the New Voices Collective at Symphony Space, and a winner of the Jonathan Larson Award. A evening of his work was recently performed at Joe's Pub, and his new song cycle, Dysfunctional Fables, will be premiered at Symphony Space this fall. Other upcoming projects include Kander & Ebb's Curtains at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Sam is a 1998 graduate of the University of Michigan School Of Music.
